From Networking to Love (Yes, You Read That Right!)

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always said that I don’t do love—just business love. I’ve spent my career helping people connect, find opportunities, and build meaningful relationships, but never in the realm of romantic connections.

Well… that’s about to change.

For months, I’ve had friends, clients, and followers asking, “Shaena, when are you going to do something with love?”

I always brushed it off, focusing on my passion for creating unique, memorable connections at events. But when I realised how much people were craving something more personal, something real—I knew it was time to step back into my event producer shoes.

So here it is: Date My Mate is officially happening! 🎉

I’m bringing people together in a whole new way—everyone comes in pairs, whether you’re single or taken.

That’s right—Wing People, you’re just as important as the singles!

Bring your single mate, help them navigate the world of dating, and maybe even make a few connections of your own. It’s going to be a night of fun, laughs, and maybe even a little romance—all with the support of your favorite Wing Person by your side.

Why now? Because love isn’t just about romantic relationships; it’s about connection in every form. It’s about seeing the beauty in finding your match, whether it’s a romantic one or a friendship that makes the night feel magical.

But there’s more to this story.

I’ve had a lot of “accidental matchmaking” moments over the years.

One of the most memorable moments was with Jesper and Antonia here in Stockholm.

They didn’t meet at a traditional dating event—far from it. It was actually at a casual gathering hosted at the Oak Island Gallery.

A little rum (aka liquid courage) for me helped loosen things up, and as I noticed their easy chemistry, I thought, “Why not?” I turned to them and said, “You’re single, right? And you’re single too? Well, you two should definitely date.”

And they did.

Fast forward a bit, and they’ve been together for a few years now.

All thanks to a simple, spontaneous introduction—well, with a little nudge from me. It reminded me of the magic of making connections and how sometimes, all it takes is the right moment (and a bit of rum) to spark something great.

And that’s what Date My Mate is about—creating those moments where the magic of connection happens, whether it’s by chance or with a little help. It’s about fostering real interactions in a fun, supportive environment. You never know, your Wing Person might just help you meet the one.

But that’s not all! Date My Mate is just the beginning. This event will be expanding in all kinds of shapes and sizes—open to queer folks, diverse groups, and people from all walks of life. I’m planning to bring it to more cities, so if you know of any great venues with the right vibes (and people who want this kind of experience), I’m all ears.
